Stewart L. Hayes

CPA, PFS, MST, Partner

Stewart received his Bachelor of Science in Commerce from Santa Clara University in 1986 and his master’s in taxation from Portland State University in 1996. Stewart is a member of the AICPA, OSCPA, and Marion-Polk Building Industry Association (MPBIA). In addition to tax, financial, and estate planning expertise, Stewart has in-depth experience working with start-ups and small businesses.   He is also a Registered Investment Advisor ( RIA).   He enjoys spending time trying new restaurants and traveling with his wife Mona as well as staying physically active. He is a lifelong and 3rd generation San Francisco Giants fan!

Dean L. Allen

CPA, CVA, MAFF Partner

Dean directs the firm’s attest, business valuation, forensic accounting and litigation support services. He provides advanced tax planning and compliance services to clients in various industries with a specialty in the construction industry. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and a Master Analyst in Financial Forensics (MAFF). He testifies regularly as an expert witness with experience in matrimonial litigation, lost profits, and other business litigation matters. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Linfield College, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1989. Dean is a supporter of various community organizations and when away from the office he enjoys watching baseball, running, fishing, and spending time with family. (Curriculum Vitae)

Stephen P. Joye

CPA, MST, CVA, Partner

Stephen was born and raised in Salem, Oregon where he graduated from Douglass McKay High School in 1986. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting with an emphasis in foreign language from Missouri State University in 1993 and his Masters of Science in Taxation from Golden Gate University in 2006. He is a Certified Public Accountant as well as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), , a member of the American Institute of Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants (OSCPA). He has served as treasurer on various community service organization boards and chaired their finance committees. He is currently serving as a board member and treasurer for Salem Chamber of Commerce as well as the treasurer for the Salem Basketball Officials Association. He has two daughters, Caitlyn is a student at University of Oregon and Savannah is a student at Notre Dame University. Away from the office he enjoys golfing, mountain biking, boating, camping, fishing, and spending time with his family. (Curriculum Vitae)

Hayley M. Kilby

CPA, MST, Partner

Hayley was born and raised in Salem, before attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. After graduation, she moved back to Oregon to start working at Fischer, Hayes in 2007.  She received her CPA License and then a Masters of Taxation from Golden Gate University.  In her free time, Hayley and her husband, Jason, enjoy traveling with their daughters, Kenzie & Chloe, and staying involved in the Salem community.

Jeanette Mena

Senior Manager CPA, CVA, MAcc

Jeanette provides attest, business valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support services to clients in various industries and life circumstances. Jeanette was born and raised in New York and spent her high school and college years in Arizona, where she graduated from Arizona State University with a Master of Science in Accountancy and Information Systems and a minor in Spanish language. She has since resided in Oregon for nearly a decade and is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA), and is trained as a financial neutral and in collaborative divorce. Jeanette is a proud wife and mother and has a son in preschool and two older stepsons in high school and college. Away from the office she enjoys traveling, stand-up paddle-boarding, dancing, singing, cooking, crafts, foreign languages, spending time with her family, and doting on her youngest boy.

James W. Doerfler

CPA, CVA

Jim was born and raised in Salem, OR graduating from North Salem High School, attending and graduating from Chemeketa Community College with an Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering. Later attending and graduating from Portland State University with a bachelor’s degree in science with an accounting major. After graduating, he worked primarily in the public accounting field becoming certified (CPA) in 1986 where he worked with small businesses and individuals providing taxation and accounting services, in addition, he also provided computer network, accounting software installation, and database design and related support services to employers and clients as well. In 2008 he earned his certification as a Business Valuation Analyst (CVA) where he has worked on several business valuation engagements for buy-sell, estate, and divorce litigation purposes. Jim has spent many years volunteering as Treasurer for the Salem Public Library Foundation and the Oregon State Elks Association / Elks Youth Eye Services. He enjoys spending time with his wife Kolette of over 38 years on their small farm and is an avid reader and likes keeping up with computer technology and getting out on the ocean to fish.

Elizabeth Schmitz

CPA

Elizabeth has been with Fischer Hayes Joye & Allen since 2001. She graduated from Lewis & Clark College in Portland and was certified in 1995. She manages a diverse client base and has enjoyed building a solid working relationship with her clients. She focuses her work on helping family-owned businesses with accounting, tax planning & compliance, and business transition issues including estate planning. Outside of work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, David, and her four granddaughters. She enjoys golfing, mountain biking, water skiing and camping.

Tonya Krzeminski

CPA

Tonya Krzeminski graduated from Oregon State University in 1998, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with an option in accounting.  After working for Grove, Mueller, and Swank, PC in Salem for four years, she became a Certified Public Accountant in 2005. Tonya has over 25 years of accounting experience, of which 15 have been in public accounting.  She is a member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants. Prior to joining our firm in 2024, she worked for Williamson & Aebi LLP in Dallas, Oregon for eight years.  She has a wide range of experience preparing individual, partnership, corporate, not-for-profit, trust and estate tax returns. When Tonya isn’t at work, she enjoys gardening, hiking, kayaking, sewing, and spending time with her family.  She has been married to her husband, Andy, for 28 years, and together they have 5 children and one granddaughter.

Debbie Lee

Accountant

Debbie has worked for FHJA since 2007. She works mostly in business and individual taxes.  Out of the office Debbie enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, kayaking, and going to the beach as much as possible.

Paulette E. Carrieri

Accountant, Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor®

Paulette is an accountant and Licensed Tax Preparer and has been with the firm since 2000.  She graduated from Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri with an Accounting degree and concentration in Business Management.  Her goal is to help clients gain the knowledge to prepare and understand their bookkeeping using QuickBooks Software®.  Over the years she has focused on business tax returns, helping clients with payroll, and managing our bookkeeping staff.  Outside of the office, she enjoys time with family and friends and volunteers in the Preschool department at her church.

Nicki Dippel

Accountant, Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor®

Nicki Dippel is a staff accountant with close to 30 years in public accounting experience in the accounting industry.  She specializes in tax preparation for small businesses and individuals and has bookkeeping and payroll knowledge.  Nicki works for our firm 100% remote and currently resides in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  She has been married to her husband for over 26 years and has two adult daughters.  In her free time, she likes to travel and spend as much time as possible with her family and her two dogs. 

Duke O’Neal

Accountant

Duke, also known as “D.J.” He has been an integral part of FHJA, working on and off since 1998. Duke has deep roots in South Salem, having grown up there. He is a proud alumnus of South Salem High School and Willamette University.

In addition to his professional contributions, Duke is also dedicated to coaching boys’ soccer at his alma mater, South Salem High School. When he’s not busy with work or coaching, he enjoys spending quality time with his five kids.

Elizabeth Ries

Accountant

Elizabeth was born and raised in Beaverton, Oregon before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 2018 where she spent the next 5 years earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Master of Accounting from the University of Oregon. Elizabeth joined the Fischer, Hayes, Joye, and Allen sta􀀁 in 2024 and looks forward to earning her CPA license in the near future. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoys spending time relaxing and watching movies with her dog, Gimli, and cat, Kili (Miss Girl).

Amy Mann

Accountant

Amy received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an option in Finance from Oregon State University in 2010. Motivated by an interest in the accounting profession, she completed the required credits in 2024 and is now preparing to sit for the CPA exams. Amy has been a valuable member of our firm since 2022, consistently demonstrating her dedication and expertise. Outside of work, Amy enjoys staying active and cherishing time with her four children and grandbaby. Her commitment both professionally and personally is truly inspiring. Let’s all wish Amy the best of luck as she embarks on this next chapter in her professional journey.

Kaylan Helmer

Accountant

Kaylan was born in Salem and raised all over Oregon with roots in Hood River, and The Dalles. She attended Portland State University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She began her career in Portland working at KPMG and specializing in state and local tax, before joining Fischer, Hayes, Joye & Allen. Outside of work, Kaylan enjoys spending time at the park with her dogs Milo and Bear as well as singing, cooking, hosting, and learning new things.

Gregor Angstrom

Accountant

Gregor is a native Oregonian and has lived in Salem most of his life. He studied finance at OSU and has four years of experience in taxation. In his spare time, he likes to hunt and fish, restore old tools and electronics, and play boardgames with his friends.

Bianca Garcia

Bookkeeper

Bianca has been with the company since 2023. She has over eight years of bookkeeping experience.  She is proficient in using QuickBooks Desktop as well as QuickBooks Online. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading and spending time with her fiancé and her four dogs. 

Michelle Gray

Bookkeeper/Accountant

Michelle has professional experience in accounting, internal auditing, bookkeeping, and payroll.  Michelle is proficient in using Quickbooks and enjoys helping clients. Michelle has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Computer Information Systems from Idaho State University.  Michelle has lived in Idaho, New Mexico, and Oregon.  In her free time, she enjoys hiking, visiting waterfalls, and spending time with her husband, Brandon.

Office Manager

Vanessa is our Office Manager she has over six years of management experience; she enjoys team development & learning new things. Outside of work you can find her spending time with her husband and son.

Kristen Breedlove,

Receptionist

Kristen Breedlove was born in Southern California before moving to Oregon to raise her family. She joined Fischer, Hayes, Joye & Allen in 2017. In her spare time, she enjoys crocheting stuffed animals, watching movies with her cats and spending time with her grandchildren.

Cindi Harris,

Executive Assistant

Cindi has worked at FHJA since July 2008. She is an executive assistant to Stewart Hayes, Dean Allen & Stephen Joye. She also works as Stewart’s executive assistant for his investment advisory firm, Willamette Valley Wealth Management, LLC.

Rhiya Grimmett,

Document Specialist

Rhiya grew up in Salem and has strived to provide exceptional customer service since 2004. Emanating a sunny disposition, she always brings smiles to those in her presence.

Brandon Gray,

Administrative Assistant

Brandon has a long history of working in the service industry and enjoys helping others. Originally from Idaho, Brandon has also lived in New Mexico and Brazil. In his spare time, he loves learning about history and other cultures. He likes to read and spend time with his wife Michelle.

Jonathon Robinson,

Administrative Assistant

Jonathon, who has been a valuable member of FHJA since 2022, serving as an administrative assistant and our go-to E-Filing Specialist. Jonathon brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to our team, backed by his impressive academic credentials. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Colorado Technical University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude. Not one to rest on his laurels, Jonathon is currently continuing his education with the goal of becoming a certified accountant. Outside of the office, Jonathon is a devoted family man who loves spending quality time with his wife and kids. He is also passionate about working on their family’s hobby farm, and he dedicates a significant amount of his time to performing charity work within the community. Jonathon’s dedication to both his professional and personal life is truly commendable.

Nicole received a BFA from Oregon State University in 2017, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She enjoys spending free time pampering her two dogs, solving mystery games, and crocheting.

Nathan has 30+ years of IT experience. Nathan is responsible for all technological aspects of infrastructure,  security, support, and training end users. Nathan enjoys spending time with his family and dogs and cooking.

Tonk Fischer

Tonk Fischer, a highly respected Certified Public Accountant, played a pivotal role as a founding partner of Fischer, Hayes, Joye & Allen, LLC, one of the most reputable accounting firms in the region. His keen insight and exceptional expertise in accounting principles helped lay the foundation for a firm that would go on to set industry standards in financial integrity and client service. Throughout his career, Tonk was known for his unwavering commitment to excellence, his ability to navigate complex financial landscapes, and his mentorship to numerous young professionals who have since become leaders in the field.

Since his well-deserved retirement, Tonk has shifted his focus from balance sheets to tranquil waters, indulging his lifelong passion for fishing. His days are now spent in serene environments, casting lines and enjoying the simplicity of nature. This new chapter in his life is a testament to his belief in the importance of balance and well-being. Far from the hustle of financial quarters, Tonk finds solace and joy in fishing, a pursuit that offers him a well-earned respite and a profound connection with the natural world. His legacy in the accounting world remains strong, but it is in the peaceful solitude of fishing where he finds his greatest contentment.
